Canadian Prime minister Trudeau said that Canada will keep accepting immigrants from different countries. However, the Government is taking harsh steps to the illegal immigrants entering through the unofficial entrance. Canada Immigration system has been working well due to the confidence of people in their system even after bad situations.
Despite politically charged situations at the southern borders, Canada is still favouring the immigration.
Reportedly, the Trudeau government includes a new border enforcement strategy which will detect, intercept and remove illegal migrants from the lands. Notably, around 20,000 people have been entering into Canada through the forests & fields since 2017.
Also, Border Security Minister Bill Blair had a conversation with United States lawmakers in order to close the omission in Canada’s Border agreement with the US.
Meanwhile, a five-year plan includes almost $1.18 billion in funding better enforcement at Canada Border Services Agency and RCMP. Not just that, it will also boost the asylum claims processing.
The budget presented didn’t include money required for the provincial immigration costs. Therefore, Quebec and Ontario have been asking for funding from Ottawa to accommodate asylum seekers.
Prime Minister Trudeau said that Canadians have confidence in Canada Immigration system as a positive force.
According to the Safe Third Country Agreement, asylum seekers cannot claim refugee status in Canada. Especially if they are from safe countries and entering through an official border crossing.
