Japanese manufacturer Toyota has started the New Toyota RAV4 crossover’s production in their Cambridge plant. Additionally, the company has also declared the complete investment of $1.4 billion in the automaker’s Canadian facilities.
Notably, the company has also started the RAV4 production at the second Ontario plant, Woodstock. At Cambridge North plant, RAV4 took the place of Corolla sedan assembly which has been shifted to the US.
Investment helps factories to make new RAV4 based on the TNGA platform. Many new vehicles of the company will be based on it. RAV4 is one of the best selling cars in Canada and the US.
There are a total of three plants of Toyota in Canada. The Cambridge south plant produces Lexus RX 350 and Lexus RX450h. Cambridge north plant used to manufacture Corolla but now it will manufacture new RAV4. Moreover, the Woodstock plant produces RAV4. Particularly, the production rate of all these cars was getting quite low.
The company said that the investment shows the commitment of automakers for Canada manufacturing.
Considerably, Toyota has started the production of new updated RAV4 from 2017 end. Noticeably, Woodstock plant produces one RAV4 every minute. Cambridge north plant will build one RAV every 70 seconds after fully revamped up.
