These cases have been filed in the Lahore and Gujranwala branches of the Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD). The case, filed by the Gujranwala Chapter of the CDT, was earlier heard in the Gujranwala OTC, but was directed by the Lahore High Court. Hafiz Saeed was arrested by the CTD in July last year during the trial of both cases.
Prior to his arrest, 23 AIRs were registered against Jamaat-ud-Dawa members in CDT 2019, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha in July 2019. They also include Abdul Rahman Makki, another terrorist from Saeed and the JUD. The CTD has said that the JUD was funding terrorism with huge funds collected by non-profit organizations and trusts. Hafiz Saeed was banned by the United Nations Security Council after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The attack killed 166 people.
