Police arrest two men in connection with deadly Mississauga gang shooting

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Two men have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Mississauga that police say was gang-related.

Safeer Ahmad of Mississauga and Jahvon Valdez of Brampton, Ont., have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the killing of 17-year-old Jonathan Davis last September.

Valdez was also charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Peel Regional Police say the shooting occurred at approximately 6:22 p.m. and saw at least 140 rounds of ammunition fired, injuring five others aside from Davis — most of them teenagers.

Police have released a video of the shooting, which happened outside an apartment building on Darcel Avenue, and are asking the public for help in apprehending the other suspects involved.

Authorities believe the shooting is connected to one that killed 28-year-old Giovanni Delahaye a month later, although they do not think Valdez and Ahmad were involved in that shooting.
