Tesla CEO, Elon Musk announced upcoming autonomous Tesla robotaxis 2020. Musk made bold predictions at the Palo Alto HQ during Tesla Autonomy Day. The company is also expecting necessary approvals by 2020.
Musk said, “I feel very confident predicting that there will be autonomous robotaxis from Tesla next year — not in all jurisdictions because we won’t have regulatory approval everywhere.”
In addition, “In places where there aren’t enough people to share their cars, Tesla would provide a dedicated fleet of robotaxis.”
Elon Musk hopes that these robotaxis would return home & automatically park and charge.
Notably, recharging robotaxis can be challenging for the company.
Musk also said that Tesla’s autonomous system will have improved to the point where drivers will not have to pay attention to the road by 2020 mid.
Additionally, Musk said that next year people can see over a million Tesla robotaxis on the roads. He said, “The fleet wakes up with an over the air update; that’s all it takes.”
Not just that, Tesla also unveiled a new Samsung chip which was being included in every new car.
