Rishi Sunek becomes Britain’s new finance minister, given a huge responsibility

London, February 14 (NRI MEDIA)

The son-in-law of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy, 39, has been appointed as Britain’s new finance minister on Thursday, before he was appointed chief secretary of the finance department a few weeks after the break. After resigning as the minister, Rishi has been entrusted with the responsibility.

Prior to the government’s annual budget, Prime Minister Boris Johnson made major changes to the Cabinet, among them the appointment of Sunek (Chancellor Chancellor) as a major change, with Rishi being elected for the first time in Parliament in 2015. He joined the local government as a minister in 2018; in 2019 he was made the chief secretary of the finance department.
