Whitehorse Plane Crash - Two Died

In Whitehorse, two people are dead due to a plane crash. A Transportation Safety Board official confirmed the news on Monday night. In this Whitehorse plane crash, two died and an investigation is going on. Read on ahead to know more.

Notably, the plane was a taking off from Whitehorse bound for Anchorage, Alaska. The plane was a Cessna 170.

Chris Krepski, a TSB spokesperson said it was private plane and both occupants in the four-seat aircraft died in the crash. Further, he said, the plane hit the ground 600 metres from the runway and caught fire.

Reportedly, the crash report took place at 5:30 PM local time.

Another TSB spokesperson, Jon Lee said TSB is putting together an investigation team from Edmonton to send to Whitehorse. 

He said, “Once we get to the accident site and we’re going to take our photos and start to examine the wreckage and collect information from the scene. The next few days will be predominantly collecting information.”

Jessica Harach, an attendant at the nearby Robert Service Campground, said she’s habitual of sounds of planes taking off and landing at the airport. Moreover, she heard the engine suddenly cut out, but didn’t give it a thought until she heard sirens go by.
