Toronto police say they’ve charged a man following a string of alleged hate-motivated assaults in the city’s east end.
They say in one instance, the man allegedly flung racial slurs at a woman who was walking with a three-month-old baby, and then threw a water bottle at them.
Police say that in another, he allegedly spat on and punched a woman who asked him to keep a physical distance on a subway train due to COVID-19.
On another occasion, police say, the suspect allegedly shouted racial slurs at a man before spitting on him and hitting him in the head, knocking off his turban.
The accused — a 27-year-old Toronto man — has been charged with six counts of assault.
He’s due in court on Thursday.
