TORONTO — Canada’s main stock indexed slipped into positive territory in late morning trading.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 17.99 points at 16,179.32.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 133.42 points at 26,451.35. The S&P 500 index was down 4.65 points at 3,234.76, while the Nasdaq composite was down 35.14 points at 10,501,13.
The Canadian dollar traded for 74.63 cents US compared with 74.75 cents on Monday.
The September crude contract was down 41 cents at US$41.19 per barrel and the September natural gas contract was up six cents at nearly US$1.85 per mmBTU.
The August gold contract was up US$12 at US$1,943.00 an ounce and the September copper contract was up 1.55 cents at US$2.91 a pound.
