Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte says if Canada doesn’t take back tones of trash within the next week he will “go to war” with the country.
Dozens of shipping containers have been rotting on Manila port for six years. The containers are filled with Canadian households and electronic garbage.
In 2013 and 2014, around 103 containers holding 2,450 tons of trash were shipped to Philippines’s Manila. the containers inappropriately labelled as plastic for recycling. However, Customs inspectors discovered they actually contained garbage such as soiled adult diapers and kitchen trash also.

Although the Filipino court ordered the trash return to Canada, still Canada is convincing the Philippines to dispose of garbage there.
Last week, British Columbia lawyer said, Canada is in violation of the International Basel Convention, which forbids developed nations from sending their toxic or hazardous waste to developing nations without informed consent.
For many years, developed countries have shipped recyclable waste overseas for processing. But, somehow this process is now changing.
Duterte referring to Canada said, “I cannot understand why they are making us a dump site.”
