On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister attended the Toronto Conference. He was in an armchair discussion with Shahrzad Rafati at the Collision tech conference in Toronto. Trudeau credited Canada immigration for the growing tech sector.
For the first time, Collision tech conference is holding outside the United States, in Toronto. In the same, Trudeau was a keynote speaker.
Notably, the organizers call this event North America’s fastest growing technology conference. The Collision conference runs from Monday to Thursday at the Enercare Centre.
At the conference, Trudeau said that Country’s openness to immigrants is helping in the thriving technology sector. Moreover, he hopes Canadians will continue to see immigration optimistically.
Trudeau said Canada is a fascinating destination for entrepreneurs. Further, the nation has also become a vital source of talent for tech all over the world. Canadian PM was being interviewed by founder & CEO of BroadbandTV, Shahrzad Rafati.
Further, he credits the federal government’s investment in research and education for the success of companies and startups.
Trudeau said, “Access to talent obviously comes from immigration and it comes from training young and educating Canadians right.”

Also, he said, “As we see anxieties and worries around the world, Canadians know that we get more resilient communities, we get better solutions, we get better innovations, when we bring in people from all around the world. That’s why we are doing well even at a time of anxiety — we have seen the Canadian economy flourish over the past few years.”
Rafati also questioned Prime Minister about the digital charter. It would combat misinformation, hate speech and election interference.
In addition, Trudeau is quite confident of his government’s framework proposal will restore the citizens’ faith. It will also simultaneously hold online platforms accountable. Trudeau gave his statement regarding the same at the VivaTech conference in Paris.
Furthermore, PM did not provide any exact details of the proposal. But regardless he mentioned the collaborative working of both the government and the tech companies. Hence, this conjugated system will ensure the safety of citizens’ personal information.
Not just that, it will also deal with solutions regarding online harassment.
Expectedly, this month, Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains will provide further details on digital governance at a summit in Ottawa.
