US President Declared National Emergency Against US IT Threat

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency to protect US computer networks from foreign adversaries. The move by President bans the use of equipment made by foreign firms due to national security risk. He declared a national emergency over IT threats against foreign adversaries which actually aims at Huawei.

It also bans the business with China’s tech giant Huawei Technologies. However, it doesn’t include the name of any specific company of any nation. But, still, the idea is crystal clear.

Many other countries also believe that Huawei products may comprise of some sort of chips for surveillance by China. The US keeps on insisting other nation to not use China’s 5G network facility.

These moves will only worsen the situations amid US-China trade war. Previously, the US also implied the tariff hike on Chinese products. Afterwards, China also retaliated by doing the same.

Additionally, the US commerce department also added Huawei to its “entity list”. It means the company can’t acquire anything from US firms without government approval.

Chairman of Federal Communications Commission, Ajit Pai called it a “significant step toward securing America’s networks”.

On the other hand, Huawei said it doesn’t pose threats. In addition, the tech giant also said it is independent of the Chinese government.

On Thursday, the company issued a statement saying, “Restricting Huawei from doing business in the US will not make the US more secure or stronger.”

Huawei added, “Instead, this will only serve to limit the US to inferior yet more expensive alternatives, leaving the US lagging behind in 5G deployment, and eventually harming the interests of US companies and consumers.”

In very less time, the US has taken a number of steps against the firm.

Canadian authorities arrested Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou In December. The move took place after a request from the US. She will have to Serve extradition. Wanzhou is allegedly accused of defrauding several banks by concealing payments from Iran in violation of sanctions against that country.
