Escaped python on the loose in Gatineau described as non-threatening

GATINEAU, Que. — Gatineau police say a missing python that has spent the last few days roaming loose poses no threat to humans.

Information provided by the SPCA suggests the animal, which is just under one metre long, curls up in a ball when it feels threatened.

The snake’s owner contacted Gatineau police Friday to report the snake missing, several days after it escaped.

On Monday, posters offering a reward for the reptile’s return caused a stir in the Hautes-Plaines neighbourhood in Hull.

The animal apparently moves around mostly at night.

Anyone who sees it is asked not to touch it, but rather to contact authorities.
