Police charge two Toronto women in death of former warlord in London, Ont.

LONDON, Ont. — Police in London, Ont., have charged two women in connection with the death of an alleged ex-warlord.

They say two 22-year-old women from Toronto are both charged with accessory after the fact to assault with a weapon.

Police are looking for a suspect, Keiron Gregory, who is 22, on a charge of second-degree murder in Bill Horrace’s death.

London police have also charged a Toronto police officer, Const. Trevor Gregory, who is 46, with breach of trust in relation to Horrace’s death.

He is the father of Keiron Gregory.

Investigators allege that four people broke into Horrace’s home in London on June 21, fatally shooting him in front of his family.

Police have said they do not believe Horrace’s killing was related to alleged war crimes he is accused of in Liberia.

Horrace filed a refugee claim in Canada in 2002 and admitted he was part of Liberian President Charles Taylor’s army as a chaplain.

Taylor is now serving a 50-year sentence for committing war crimes in neighbouring Sierra Leone.

Horrace had engaged in a nearly two decade-long battle with the Canadian government to become a permanent resident, according to Federal Court documents.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 10, 2020.
